What does a Care Plan offer me?

Lifetime Payments
A Care Plan provides a regular, guaranteed income that goes directly towards paying for your care costs, continuing for the rest of your life, no matter how long you live.

Peace of Mind
If you’re self-funding your care, a Care Plan can remove the uncertainty of how much it might cost over time, helping you or your family plan with confidence.

Long-Term Security
By using a single lump sum payment, you can secure predictable, lifelong support for your care needs, helping to protect other assets or savings.

Key benefits:

- You can choose for care payments to start after 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 years, known as the deferred period.
- A Deferred Care Plan may suit you if you’re able to cover care costs for a while and want the reassurance of future payments for life.
- Only short-term capital protection is available with Deferred Care Plans; long-term protection is not offered.
- You can choose for your benefit to increase each year by a fixed rate between 3% and 10%, but linking to the Retail Price Index (RPI) is not available.

Top Questions for Care Plans
Who can buy a Care Plan?
Care Plans are available only for UK residents aged 60 or over.
Do I need advice before I buy a Care Plan?
Care Plans must be purchased through a financial adviser who holds appropriate later-life advice qualifications and has assessed your financial situation, needs, and goals.
How often will the care payments be made?
We’ll pay your benefit directly to your care provider every four weeks or monthly in advance, depending on your preference when you apply, usually aligning with your provider’s invoicing schedule.
What will be paid out when I die?
Once we are notified of your death, benefit payments will stop immediately. We will pay any outstanding benefit due to your care provider up to the date of your passing.
If you chose a capital protection option and pass away within the covered period, we will pay the relevant amount to your estate representatives or beneficiaries, as applicable.
What do I do if I want to cancel?
You have 30 days from receiving your policy documents to change your mind. If you do, we’ll refund your single payment, less any benefits already paid.
After this 30-day period, the policy cannot be cancelled and will remain in place until your death.
